‘Aquaman’ star Jason Momoa and ex-wife Lisa Bonet have already settled their divorce, even though she just filed the case earlier today.
According to legal documents obtained by The Blast, Bonet informed the court that the former couple has an “agreement” that will be filed with the court at a later date.
This new filing explains the confusion over the newly filed divorce case after the actress pointed out to the court the couple has been “separated” since 2020. We broke the story, the divorce was filed two years after the duo publically announced their split.
Most likely, the couple spent the last few years working out their differences and settling their case. The divorce is being issued as “uncontested” which means neither one of them is going to fight it in court. At this point, the settlement itself hasn’t been filed with the court.
“The parties have a written agreement that will be submitted to the court, or a stipulation for judgment will be submitted to the court,” the document reads.
As we reported, Lisa Bonet officially filed for dissolution of marriage on January 8, 2023. Back in 2022, the couple announced their breakup on social media and issued a joint statement. The filing included a “separation date” of Oct. 7, 2020. The exes were together for 12 years and married for almost 5 years. They share a daughter Lola Iolani Momoa, 16, and a son, Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa, 15.
The actress requested joint physical and legal custody of the children and didn’t request spousal support.
But, most likely these issues were worked out in the couple’s settlement agreement.
“We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times, a revolution is unfolding and our family is of no exception … feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring,” the couple announced on Instagram.
Adding, “And so We share our Family news that we are parting ways in marriage. We share this not because we think it’s newsworthy but so that as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty.”
It continued, “The love between us carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived. We free each other to be who we are learning to become. Our devotion is unwavering to this sacred life & our Children. Teaching our Children What’s Possible. Living the Prayer. May Love Prevail.”
At this point, the settlement will just require a rubber stamp from a Los Angeles County judge. It’s unclear if it will ever be made public.
It should be noted, that both are wealthy celebrities and came into the marriage with their own money and property.
