‘Mean Girls’ star Daniel Franzese has just confirmed that the entire original cast wants to do a sequel of the iconic 2004 film — That would be so fetch!

A comedy/musical adaptation of the 2004 film will hit theaters this weekend — ‘Mean Girls: The Musical’, which has fans once again talking about a possible sequel to the original movie — with hopes of bringing back the entire original cast, including Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert.

While the new adaption of the movie does star some of the original cast, the iconic characters, such as Cady Heron and Regina George, are played by different actresses, meaning this is not a true sequel and it is just a musical adaption, based on the 2018 Broadway musical, ‘Mean Girls’.

Ever since the 2004 film was released, fans have been dying for a sequel — and it seems so has the cast.

Daniel Franzese, who portrays Damian in the original film, and also has a role in the new musical adaption of ‘Mean Girls’, confirmed that the entire cast still keeps in touch, and they are all down to film a sequel.

“We all talk when we can,” the actor told PEOPLE at the ‘Mean Girls: The Musical’ New York premiere on Monday, January 8. “It’s very difficult. We were all really busy, but I love them also.”

When speaking about the possibility of a ‘Mean Girls 2,’ the actor confirmed that “we all want it,” referencing the original cast of ‘Mean Girls’. “You got to tell the boss lady [Tina Fey] over there. I’m sure [she’s] heard it a million times, but she’s the gatekeeper, so we’re all waiting.”

Tina Fey is the one behind the original movie script and the 2018 Broadway music adaption.

Although the 2024 musical is not a sequel to the 2004 movie, fans of the popular film will spot some cameos from the original cast, including Tina Fey and Tim Meadows.

Franzese is not the only ‘Mean Girls’ actor to confirm that the cast would be on board for a sequel. In 2022, Lacey Chabert, who portrayed Gretchen Wieners in the 2004 movie, spoke to Jimmy Fallon, admitting she would “absolutely” be willing to do a second ‘Mean Girls’ film.

“I think it would be so much fun to see where these women are now and if their kids are the new mean girls,” she told the host of the night show. “I would love to know what they’re doing.”

Plus, in 2020, Lindsay Lohan, who portrays Cady Heron in the 2004 movie, spoke with David Spade about a possible sequel, where she admitted she would be on board, confirming what Franzese told PEOPLE at the 2024 ‘Mean Girls: The Musical’ premiere on Monday, January 8.

“I think I was hanging on to [Mean Girls] for a really long idea,” Lohan said at the time. “I wanted to come back with a Mean Girls 2 with the same cast, work with Tina [Fey] and the whole crew again and [Mean Girls director] Mark Waters…but that’s all in their hands, really.”

And lastly, Rachel McAdams, who portrayed the iconic Regina George in the 2004 movie, said she would love to take on the iconic role again. “It would be fun to play Regina George later in her life and see where life took her!” she said during the “Heroes of Health: COVID-19 Stream-a-thon” in 2020.

So, it looks like we are just waiting for a green light from Ms. Tina Fey.
