Sophia Bush and Grant Hughes have hit a snag in their process of untying the knot.
Five months after the actress initiated divorce proceedings from her husband, The Blast obtained court documents that disclosed the former lovebirds’ disagreement over money.

In the legal documents, Bush filed a request to end her marriage, and her husband agreed to it. This triggered automatic restrictions and made Hughes interested in using his own money for a real estate project in Woodward, Oklahoma.
The papers disclose that the business owner plans to use $300,000 from his personal money, which comes from transferring valuable stocks, as a down payment to buy “Storage Facilities.”
Hughes will then secure a loan to cover the remaining purchase price, which he is undertaking to indemnify and relieve his estranged wife from any liabilities linked to the loan.
To that end, he will assume full responsibility for any capital gain taxes resulting from the transfer of appreciated stock. It is worth noting that Hughes says he will not claim that investing in storage places will affect his ability to follow the “Unity Agreement” if the agreement is proven valid by a judge.
However, he promises to have enough money even after investing even though this does not mean he admits the agreement is valid. He argues, as stated in the documents, that it is not valid, while Bush insists it is. Both parties keep their rights and arguments about the Unity Agreement.
The latest snag in the divorce proceedings, which began just 13 months after Hughes and Bush made their union official, comes after the former requested the Los Angeles court to prevent granting spousal support to the actress in their divorce.
Hinting that their shared property might be a problem, Hughes mentioned in his response that he is unsure about the complete details of the property, and he planned to inform the court once he had a better understanding of the details, adding:
“At such time as he believes he is aware of the full extent and description of community and quasi-community property, he will either seek leave of Court to amend this Response and/or file further pleadings identifying the community and quasi-community property.”
He requested that both parties share the legal fees related to the divorce, a request to which the “One Tree Hill” alum agreed. The entrepreneur stated in the documents that they officially separated on June 27, 2023, due to “irreconcilable differences,” without providing details about what happened on that day.

Long before her marriage ended, Bush shared with her “Drama Queens” and “One Tree Hill” co-stars Hillarie Burton-Morgan and Joy Lenz that the chemistry between her and Hughes was evident to their friends, who jokingly welcomed them to their own party.
She divulged that making their relationship work required personal growth and inner work on her part, as her personal life reportedly needed an overhaul. In the words of the 41-year-old:
“Well, I’m a romantic. I’m a storyteller, I believe in people. I’m an optimist, so I often fall in love with potential. It’s not, as a partner, my job or your job to help another person realize their potential. You can support someone in realizing their potential- you can’t make them do it.”
Bush soon had a moment of clarity when she recognized the patterns she needed to work on. Speaking on that, she conveyed:
“When I shifted the place that I pick from or that I was willing to see potential from being not sympathetic but inspired, I went, ‘Oh, oh!’”
As for the wedding day itself, the “Good Sam” star had shared a lengthy post via Instagram gushing about what the ceremony meant to her. She wrote at the time:
