In case you’re curious about what Marvel’s plans are for a Scarlet Witch movie, it’s being reported that they are still moving forward with it. There is also some information on when we might actually see the movie get released.
Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff has had a very interesting story arc in the MCU and things really took a darker turn for her over the course of WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which saw her full transformation into the villainous version of Scarlet Witch.
Her story has been quite tragic, and her losses and sadness led her to the Darkhold, which corrupted the Avenger and she went on a horrific bloody rampage through the multiverse in an effort to find the Variants of her two boys.
Wanda eventually realized what she was doing was wrong and appeared to destroy herself in the collapse of Wundagore after using her powers to destroy all the copies of the Darkhold throughout the Multiverse.
But, there is a brief red flash shown in the collapsing structure that suggests she might have escaped, which could lead to a solo film. This was reported a few months ago saying that WandaVision and Agatha All Along producer and writer, Jac Schaeffer, is going to write and direct the film.
Now, scooper @MyTimeToShineH is saying that the project is still moving forward, and he reveals it will either be released between Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars or following the latter. If this is true, it seems like Marvel Studios has plans to keep Olsen around in this role for a little longer.
Olsen previously talked about her hopes for the future of the character, saying: “We can do anything with her now! I feel like we’ve done so much. Now, we can really have fun; I feel like there’s a lot more humor to be had with her. She’s often the emotion of a story, and I’m curious to see what we can explore. And hopefully [we can] give her some redemption.”
I’ve enjoyed the overall story arc for Scarlet Witch and I do hope that her story isn’t finished. Marvel has yet to officially announce a solo film for the character, but I’d like to see her story continue in a new chapter.
