Mia Thornton is opening up about the dissolution of her relationship with her estranged husband, Gordon Thornton.
The “Real Housewives of Potomac” star and her former beau separated in June 2023 but didn’t publicly announce their breakup until September.
Their split became permanent when the TV personality pushed to end their 11-year union last fall for a heartbreaking reason.

During an emotional interview about her ongoing divorce, Mia was queried about what led to the end of what many assumed was a blissful marriage. Although the duo had initially separated, she blamed the conclusion of their romance on Gordon.
“I want to say my breaking point was when he publicly decided to shame me,” the Bravo star revealed, noting that her ex’s scathing remarks last October pushed her to file for divorce. In her words:
“And I said, ‘OK, this is not what we’re doing.’ And I filed. Yeah, I did because I’m like, ‘Let’s go ahead and get this clock rolling.’ I just don’t want to be a part of it.”
Despite being emotionally burned by her ex’s words, the doting mother revealed on Page Six‘s “Virtual Reali-Tea” podcast that she didn’t return the insults and would “never publicly shame” him for their children’s sake.
Mia and Gordon share two children — 8-year-old son Jeremiah and 6-year-old daughter Juliana. The Bravolebrity also has a teen son, Joshua, from a previous relationship.
The Bravo Star Prioritizes Her Children
Mia stressed that it is crucial for her to preserve Gordon’s relationship with their two children, saying, “I’m trying to reel him in, and we need to work together as a family.”
“We have these beautiful babies that we’re raising, and being a mom is No. 1 for me,” she continued before adding, “And I’m very proud to hold that title of being Supermom. And we have happy kids. I want them to stay happy.”
Things appear to be going smoothly in the co-parenting department, with Mia raving about the former couple’s healthy dynamic as they navigated through their divorce. In her words:
“It’s going well. It is now. And hopefully, it stays that way. I don’t keep the kids away from Gordon. I want him to be a huge part of their lives. I do want him to remain the kids’ hero. You know, that’s their dad.”
The Mother-Of-Two Made Gordon ‘Get With The Program’
Following her separation from Gordon, Mia found love again with radio DJ Incognito. He soon became a significant part of her life — so much so that her ex-husband had to develop a friendly relationship with him for his children’s sake.
“I told him, ‘Hey, if you don’t get with the program, then you’re going to put me in a position where you’re not going to see your kids,’” the reality TV star explained, noting she told Gordon to “pick a side.”
According to Mia, her former beau quickly “got with the program” and now joins her on dates with radio DJ Incognito and their children. She also raved about her blossoming new relationship, noting that she expects them to achieve more milestones, but no wedding yet.
Mia Thornton Refutes Wedding Speculations
In her interview, Mia clarified the rumors that claimed she would tie the knot to Incognito next month.
The speculations about her marriage to the radio DJ began after she shared the caption “4.4.4 [white heart emoji] Let’s Go!” in December 2023 alongside a PDA image.
The Instagram post got fans thinking she would say her vows on April 4, 2024. However, the Bravolebrity explained that there is no wedding in the couple’s foreseeable future, saying:
“So there is not a wedding in April, OK? 444 is an angel number that he and I share. It’s what we feel represents our connection.”
While the couple might not get married now, Mia implied they would do so later, adding: “We have wedding on the brain, but I have to get divorced first!”
Inside Gordon’s Scathing Remarks
As stated, Mia filed for divorce after her soon-to-be ex-husband slammed her character in a heated interview. Gordon accused her of being a gold-digger, claiming she married him for his wealth and the resources he could provide.
Now that those funds and benefits were no longer accessible, the businessman believed Mia was leaving him for better prospects. The allegations did not end there, as Gordon claimed he gave the entertainer a hall pass for extramarital affairs.
The 71-year-old noted that he allowed her to have sex with other men because he knew he couldn’t satisfy her needs, given his age. Gordon had hoped Mia would be open about her extramarital affairs, but she allegedly lied and chose to sneak around.
