When I watched the trailers for Land of Bad it looked like it would be a decent enough movie, but after hearing a wave of great things about it, I decided I should go check this movie out on the big screen and I’m sure glad I did! Land of Bad is a breath of fresh, exhilarating air, surpassing my expectations for the movie.

The film was directed by William Eubank and he delivered an intense, gripping narrative that captures the essence of survival, bravery, and the indomitable human spirit. I can confidently say that Land of Bad is easily one of the best films that I’ve seen this year so far. I should also add that I enjoy watching military films like this.

The movie plunges its audience into a heart-stopping military odyssey set in the treacherous terrains of the South Philippines, where a covert Special Forces operation takes a dire turn into a relentless 48-hour fight for survival. The premise is an intriguing, promising story filled with tension, action, and human drama. The film is fast-paced, weaving through its narrative with precision and intensity that will leave audiences clinging to the edge of their seats.

The action sequences in Land of Bad are awesomely spectacular. They showcase a perfect blend of realism and cinematic flair that is breathtaking and, at times, brutally visceral. The film does not shy away from depicting the harsh realities of combat, drawing audiences into a thrilling experience where the stakes are incredibly high. It seems the filmmakers’ goal was to deliver a raw, unfiltered portrayal of warfare, where the specter of death looms large, and survival is a feat of both physical endurance and mental fortitude, and he awesomely pulls it off.

At the heart of this harrowing story are the performances by a stellar cast, including Russell Crowe, Luke Hemsworth, Ricky Whittle, and Milo Ventimiglia. Crowe and Hemsworth, in particular, deliver compelling performances that anchor the film. Crowe, as the seasoned Air Force drone pilot Reaper, and Hemsworth, portraying the rookie officer Kinney, embody the essence of leadership and resilience in the face of overwhelming odds. Their dynamic, driven by a sense of urgency and desperation, drives the narrative forward, highlighting the themes of camaraderie, sacrifice, and the moral complexities of warfare.

Land of Bad is a meticulously crafted story that explores the human condition through the lens of a high-stakes Special Forces operation. The film is thought-provoking and emotionally resonant and is both intellectually engaging and visually spectacular.

The film takes audiences on a riveting cinematic journey that is meant to be seen on the big screen. As the year progresses, I believe that it will be one of the standout films of the year for me with a very high chance that it will end up on my end-of-year favorite list. If you enjoy military action movies, this is a movie that you’re going to enjoy!

The one thing that Land of Bad suffered from was its lackluster marketing efforts to get audiences to go see the movie! This oversight in marketing significantly undermined the film’s potential to draw in wider audiences. Had the film been marketed properly it would probably would’ve been a big hit!
