David Corenswet Pitches Superman, Wonder Woman & Lois’ Love Triangle

When it comes to horror films in Hollywood, the market feels saturated with recycled ideas and predictable jump scares and stories. But, the recently released film, Late Night with the Devil, is a breath of fresh, albeit chilling, air. This film is the manifestation of a horror fan’s nightmare.

Over the years, I’ve come up with a few horror movie ideas that I’d love to see brought to life on the big screen, and this movie is the closest that I’ve seen to one of them. Late Night with the Devil is a movie that I’ve been wanting to see get made and I love that someone went out there and made it!

Directors Cameron and Colin Cairnes do a great job bringing their story to life in a spectacularly eerie and captivating way. The film is a masterclass in psychological horror, intertwining an ingeniously unique story with genuinely terrifying moments that will remind you why you fell in love with the horror genre in the first place. It’s like stepping into a Halloween house of horrors, where every turn is unexpected, and every scare is earned.

The film’s premise is simple yet extremely effective. It takes us behind the scenes of a late-night talk show, a setting that, according to the Cairnes brothers, harbored a certain danger in its heyday. The inclusion of the supernatural within this live-to-air atmosphere is genius, providing a fresh and frightening experience that keeps audiences on the edge of their seats.

David Dastmalchian stars in the film, and his portrayal of Jack Delroy, the charismatic yet ultimately doomed talk show host, is a career-defining performance. Dastmalchian brings a depth to his character that will make you hang on his every word and feel every ounce of his dread. It’s a performance that, as Dastmalchian himself has stated, haunts and changes you. Laura Gordon’s role as the parapsychologist is equally compelling, adding an intensity that complements the film’s unnerving atmosphere.

The direction and storytelling from the Cairnes brothers deserve all the praise they are getting. They have not only created a film that is visually stunning but have also woven a story that is very engaging and even thought-provoking. Their vision of combining the nostalgia of late-night TV with the terror of the supernatural has paid off, offering viewers a uniquely frightening experience.

Late Night with the Devil is a film that delivers some fantastic scares that might linger with you after the credits roll. If you’re a horror enthusiast, this movie is an absolute must-see on the big screen. It’s an experience that takes audiences on a thrilling ride that reminds us why we love to be scared.

Late Night with the Devil will haunt your dreams, in the best possible ways.
