Tron: Ares is currently in production in Vancouver and a new video from the set has surfaced featuring Jared Leto walking around while wearing his practical Light Suit.
The sequel is being directed by Joachim Rønning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Kon Tiki), and I’m really hoping that he ends up delivering a great movie! This sequel has been a long-time coming.
The film follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, “who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.”
Most of the set footage that we’ve seen is set in the real world, but don’t worry, parts of the movie will also be taking place in the digital world. I’m excited to see how the story plays out as these two worlds collide.
The movie also stars Cameron Monaghan (Star Wars Jedi), Evan Peters (WandaVision), Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith (Without Remorse), Greta Lee, Hasan Minhaj, Arturo Castro, and Gillian Anderson.
Rønning previously talked about the movie saying: “I’m excited to be part of the TRON franchise and bring this new film to fans around the world. TRON: Ares builds upon the legacy of cutting-edge design, technology and storytelling. Now more than ever, it feels like the right time to return to the Grid.”
Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne wrote the script. The film arrives in theaters on October 10, 2025.
