Jim Henson: Idea Man is a documentary directed by Ron Howard and I simply cannot wait for it. This morning Disney announced the release date of May 31st this year. The doc covers all of the good and bad of the true visionary life.
Variety was able to sit down with Jim Henson Co CEO Lisa Henson, and discuss how she feels about the documentary.
If there was going to be a definitive documentary about Jim Henson, we had hoped it would be in the hands of an accomplished filmmaker. Ron Howard is both a creative and personality match for my father, unlike anyone else we could have contemplated,
I am glad that the company that Jim and Jane Henson built supports this documentary. As much as we would love to think that Jim’s life was all sunshine and roses, this film digs deep into the darker side of the man. Including his struggles of being a workaholic and the multiple affairs that ultimately ended his marriage with Jane.
I love everything from Henson. From the Muppets to Dark Crystal, Fraggles to Labyrinth and who could forget Sesame Street, I will always be a fan of those.
The stories and characters have left an unbreakable impression on my heart. I have luckily been able to transfer that love to my children and hopefully, they bring this magic to theirs.
This is going to bring laughter and tears to all of those who love the magic this man and his imagination has brought to us. Please, let us know what you think.
