BRAVE NEW WORLD Will Be a “Grounded Espionage Action Movie” With a “Bigger Enemy to Conquer” — GeekTyrant

Actor Anthony Mackie is starring in his first Marvel movie since taking over the name and shield of his friend, Captain America. We got a taste of his character under the new mantle in the Disney+ series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, but this movie will really see him step into this new era for his character.

In a recent interview with EW at CinemaCon, Mackie described the tone and feel of this new film, saying:

“It made more sense for it to be more of a grounded espionage action movie as opposed to aliens and airplanes coming through portals and s—. Even though I’ve been in so many of them and have seen it all now, the opportunity for Sam to really establish himself as a true action star and Avenger comes with this movie.”

Even though we know the character Sam Wilson, this movie will reintroduce him in this point of his story. It sounds like a cool premise. He went on to add:

“This movie is a clear reset. It really reestablishes the idea of what this universe is and what this universe is going to be. I think with these movies, you’re getting a clear, new branding of what Marvel is headed towards the same way they did with Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The title implies that there’s a new, bigger enemy now; there’s a new frontier that we have to conquer. From Captain America: The First Avenger to Endgame, the enemy was always good versus bad. Now that we’ve conquered that, where do we go from here? When the bad guys reappear, in what form are they reappearing? It is a new storyline with new characters, with new beliefs, and it creates a new idea of this new world that we’re going into.”

Mackie is joined in the film by Harrison Ford as Thaddeus Ross, who is the president of the United States in the story. The movie also stars Liv Tyler, Shira Haas, Tim Blake Nelson, Rosa Salazar, Danny Ramirez, and Carl Lumbly.

Captain America: Brave New World will be released on February 14, 2025.
