Ezra’s release date is May 31, 2024. The movie originally had its world premiere on September 9, 2023, at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

There is a gap of eight months between the flick’s TIFF premiere on September 9, 2023, and its theatrical release in the United States on May 31, 2024. Ezra’s theatrical release also happens two years after principal photography reportedly began in September 2022.

Trailer — watch it now

You can watch the Ezra trailer below:

The official trailer gives viewers a tease of what they can expect from the film, such as the growing strong bond between Max and his autistic son Ezra. The trailer also reveals how Max at first struggles to deal with his son’s autism but over time grows close to him and helps the boy deal with his neurodevelopmental disorder and his future. Max’s career as a stand-up comedian also slowly tangles with his personal life as he uses his son’s story and condition to help with his performances and eschew a sense of relatability.

Cast — who is in Ezra?

Ezra’s cast includes:

Bobby Cannavale as Max Bernal
William A. Fitzgerald (acting debut) as Ezra Bernal
Robert De Niro as Stan Bernal
Rose Byrne as Jenna
Vera Farmiga as Grace
Whoopi Goldberg as Jayne
Rainn Wilson as Nick
Tony Goldwyn
Jackson Frazer as Ridgeway

Plot – what’s the story about?

Ezra’s story revolves around the relationship between Max Bernal, a stand-up comic, and his autistic son Ezra.

In the story, Max Bernal struggles to deal with his son Ezra’s autism, when he is also dealing with various other factors such as his divorce and separation from his wife, his son’s school life, and his father’s slight disapproval of Max staying with him despite his adult age. Max and Ezra soon embark on a cross-country road trip where they face a big change in their lives that could prove instrumental in laying out trajectories for their respective futures.
