Katie Maloney may have slept with Tom Schwartz‘s best friend, Max Boyens, amid a recent episode of Vanderpump Rules. But oddly enough, Schwartz wasn’t too upset about it. In fact, he thought it was “funny.”
Following a recent episode of the show, which featured Schwartz, 40, expressing his feelings of hypocrisy over the situation, which came about a year after he admittedly kissed Rachel “Raquel” Leviss, 29, much to Katie’s dismay, Schwartz insisted he wasn’t upset or resentful about Katie’s hookup with Max as she reacted to his claims against her and other cast members weighed in.
“It was weird. It was funny though, too,” Schwartz said of Katie and Max’s encounter on an episode of the Pump Rules: After Show. “If that would’ve happened two weeks after our divorce, I wouldn’t have been mad. I would’ve been a little more disturbed.”
Meanwhile, Tom Sandoval, 41, said he “would not feel right about that.”
“I would feel really weird if you hooked up with [Ariana Madix]. And I would feel weird hooking up with Katie,” he noted.
As for Jax Taylor, 44, he admitted he would feel some type of way “regardless if I dated the girl three years ago, two years ago, one year ago…”
“But I guess in our group, it doesn’t really apply because… I’ve done that,” he continued, giving a nod to his hookup with Kristen Doute, 41.
“We’re so desensitized,” Schwartz replied. “[But] maybe it’s misrepresentation to say I didn’t care. I just was like caught off guard. It was more of a WTF moment. But it was no anger or resentment towards Max or Kate. Zero. But I had to acknowledge the hypocrisy because she really did scorch earth my life after that kiss in Mexico, it’s like, just burned it down, our whole friendship, whatever was left of it.”
While Schwartz felt that it was hypocritical for Katie to link up with Max after making such a big deal about his and Raquel’s kiss, Katie suggested she was free to do what she wanted after he disrespected the boundaries she previously set.
“Wouldn’t that have been lovely if we could have both kept that little nice boundary rule for one another? But Tom took a giant sh*t on that and basically said I don’t give a f*ck about you or respecting you or this friendship that we’re trying to build and just made out with Rachel and basically said he’s doing it on purpose,” she noted.
As for whether her hookup with Max was a revenge bang, Katie clarified, “That was really divine timing,” as James Kennedy, 32, said, “Of course it f*cking was [a revenge bang].”
“[And] good on her,” he continued. “Schwartz did make out with Raquel and it was right in front of everyone… She’s gonna be pissed but then she went and banged Max. It’s cutthroat. It’s legendary moves. Savage. Let’s go Katie. I love Katie.”
Elsewhere, Kristen and Scheana Shay, 38, felt otherwise.
“I don’t think so at all. I think Katie was horny. Max was single,” Kristen suspected. “[There was] sexual tension… And if [Scheana] had already done it more than once and I had done it more than once, she’s like, ‘It can’t be bad right?’”
“She’s heard feedback,” Scheana agreed. “There was the Schwartz and Raquel kiss and it was like, ‘Well you kept it in the friend group. So can I.’ I’m sure that was maybe a little part in the back of her head but ultimately I think she was attracted to him, he was attracted to her and they finally just had to get it out of their system.”
