Bad news for music fans. The highly anticipated Lovers & Friends Festival 2024 has been called off just hours before it was set to kick off.
Festival organizers made the announcement hours ago on their official website and social media pages.
The big event was scheduled to take place in Las Vegas and promised to be a nostalgic trip for millennials. The lineup had great headliners including icons like Usher, Janet Jackson, the Backstreet Boys, and Alicia Keys. Fans were also going to see Mary J. Blige, Gwen Stefani, Monica, Brandy, Nas, M.I.A., Snoop Dogg, Ja Rule, Ashanti, Ciara, Ludacris, and many others. Sadly, just moments before the doors were about to open, plans were blown away by the unfortunate force of nature. The statement read,
“Lovers & Friends Festival organizers have been monitoring the weather for several days and proactively preparing for a windy Saturday. However, the National Weather Service has now issued a High Wind Warning, including dangerous 30-35 mph sustained winds with gusts potentially more than 60 mph. Following advice from the National Weather Service and in consultation with local public officials, we must make the safest decision for our fans, artists, and staff, and cancel tomorrow’s Lovers & Friends Festival.”

More On Lovers & Friends Festival:
The R&B festival made its debut in 2022 after facing delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, the inaugural event was cut short when attendees heard gunshots and chaos ensued. However, last year, the festival successfully returned, showcasing incredible performances by Mariah Carey, 50 Cent, and more. This year,
Live Nation took charge of organizing and promoting the festival, but they have yet to provide any comments regarding the cancellation.
While this is definitely a huge disappointment, fans are hoping for something special to come out of it down the line.
