With Tron: Ares wrapping production this week, I thought it would be fun to share the original trailer for Disney’s classic 1982 sci-fi film.
While the original movie was not a box office success, I believe it was just way ahead of its time, and I remember being blown away by it when I first saw it as a kid!
Tron was a groundbreaking film that dives into the digital world of a computer. The story follows Kevin Flynn, a skilled software engineer who is transported into the digital universe of The Grid after attempting to hack into his former employer’s computer system.
Inside this vividly realized electronic landscape, Flynn teams up with Tron, a security program, to combat the tyrannical Master Control Program that seeks to dominate both the digital and real worlds, culminating in a battle for control of the system that blurs the lines between the human and digital realms.
Tron was directed by Steven Lisberger and the cast includes Jeff Bridges as Kevin Flynn, Bruce Boxleitner as Tron (and Alan Bradley), David Warner as the villainous Ed Dillinger (and also as Sark and the voice of the Master Control Program), Cindy Morgan as Lora (and Yori), and Dan Shor as Ram.
