In a surprise move, Mattel and Hasbro are teaming up to release a special Hot Wheels car modeled after Optimus Prime that actually transforms.
The new die-cast car toy is a part of the Mattel Creations brand of Mattel’s toy line, and is modeled after Optimus’ first appearance in Generation 1 of The Transformers.
Transforming car available for preorder next week
The car comes packaged as his iconic heavy-duty truck cab, but can transform into a fully standing, 3.5-inch tall figure complete with attachable hands and an ion blaster.
The toy car will be available to preorder on the Mattel Creations website beginning on May 21, 2024 at 12 p.m. EST, and will retail for $80.
For those looking to pick one up, you’ll want to be ready to do it quick, as Mattel Creations products often sell out fast. With Mattel and Hasbro collaborating on this, it’ll likely be an extremely hot item amongst collectors.
