Diddy has been stripped of his honorary degree at Howard University amid the mounting physical and sexual assault allegations against him.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the esteemed HBCU announced Friday (June 7) that they’d be revoking the degree they originally bestowed upon the embattled mogul in 2014 following a unanimous vote from its board of trustees.

Diddy attended Howard from 1987 to 1989, but never graduated as he left to pursue his career.

“Mr. Combs’ behavior as captured in a recently released video is so fundamentally incompatible with Howard University’s core values and beliefs that he is deemed no longer worthy to hold the institution’s highest honor,” the board said in a statement. “The University is unwavering in its opposition to all acts of interpersonal violence.”

The school will also be terminating a 2016 gift agreement with Diddy, disbanding the scholarship that had been established in his name and returning his $1 million contribution. Additionally, they’ll be canceling a pledge agreement with the Sean Combs Foundation that was made in 2023 just weeks before Cassie’s bombshell lawsuit.

The statement confirmed that no payments toward the 2023 pledge had been made, however, so no funds need to be returned on that one.

The degree stripping arrives after news that Diddy’s former Revolt shares have been “redeemed and retired” as the company’s employees have become the majority owners.

In a social media post on Tuesday (June 4), the media network said: “Revolt is honored and proud to announce that, in an unprecedented and historic move in the Black media space, our newly projected largest shareholder group are REVOLT’s current employees.

“Our mission to become the largest media company powered by creators and fueled by the culture continues.”

Diddy founded the company in 2013 but resigned from his position as chairman late last year after facing several accusations of sexual assault.

It is believed that Shea Moisture founder Richelieu Dennis bought Diddy’s shares but he will not be involved in the ownership structure of Revolt.

Revolt previously announced Diddy’s departure from the company by saying: “While Mr. Combs has previously had no operational or day-to-day role in the business, this decision helps to ensure that Revolt remains steadfastly focused on our mission to create meaningful content for the culture and amplify the voices of all Black people throughout this country and the African diaspora.”
