Spider-Noir Season 2 Gets Confusing Update From Marvel Star

Some interesting new details have surfaced for Marvel Studios’ Blade with Mahershala Ali, and I like the setting they were going to go with!

Under the direction of Yann Demange, who recently exited the project, Blade was going to be a period film set in the 1920s. What a cool freakin’ setting for a Blade movie, which would have been very different and unique for a Marvel movie.

The news comes from THR, who also reported that Mia Goth, who is still attached to the project, would be playing Lilith, an ancient demon-vampire goddess who “wanted the blood of Blade’s daughter.”

It’s explained that in another iteration of the film under director Bassam Tariq, “Marvel built a massive train set, but it was never used.” The new take on Blade is said to be set in the present day.

Damn, it was a missed opportunity to do something really cool with a 1920s set film! A present-day Blade movie just seems boring now after learning what could’ve been.

Marvel and Disney have spent millions of dollars on Blade throughout the development and preproduction process. and they are going to keep going until this movie finally gets made.

Marvel’s current plan involves the script being rewritten over the summer and then they will start reaching out to directors.

Ali has a lot of influence over the project and after Marvel gave him a list of directors to choose from to take on the project, he “conducted his own search after having concerns that the list largely featured filmmakers who were untested at the big studio level.”

It’ll be interesting to see who the next director will be and how this movie will ultimately turn out. What are your thoughts on this latest update on Blade? What would you like to see from the movie?
