As she continues to demand justice, equality, and respect for marginalized people and to steer the youth on a positive path, Cardi B is now being honored at the 4th annual Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards, being recognized for her trailblazing and inspiring efforts. The Inspiration Award is given to a recipient who has defied the odds and come out on top. Through their willingness to succeed, they have pushed through hardships and defeat to emerge as a phoenix.
While accepting her award, Cardi B told the crowd, “I’m really my biggest critic and nobody has it harder in the industry, or any music genre, than a female rapper. You gotta have the best verses and kill the charts and your personal life has to be perfect or else your opps will use it against you. Sometimes it’s hard to be yourself and express yourself in the music. We get it harder than the Pop girls. Every year my goals get bigger. Yall keep asking about my album, it’s coming but I want it to be the best because y’all give us females a hard a** time.”
