Taking place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA on Friday, June 21, Hollywood’s biggest night celebrated some of the industry’s most influential figures, including Grammy Award-winning rapper and actress Cardi B. The fan-favorite femcee has been looked upon as one of the most vulnerable, transparent, and authentic celebrities in the industry, as early as her humble beginnings as a raw social media influencer.

Cardi’s unfiltered commentary led to her quick success on social media and fast-rising rising star in music and entertainment, including roles on various reality TV shows and Hollywood films. Cardi has not only become a household name for her Grammy Award-winning lyricism, but also become an inspirational figure because of her unadulterated views on societal, political, and moral issues. Recognizing the power and influence she holds over the youth and older generations, Cardi B has weaponized her sizable platform for the greater good, standing tall on issues affecting education, women’s rights, racial equality, and much more.

As she continues to demand justice, equality, and respect for marginalized people and to steer the youth on a positive path, Cardi B is now being honored at the 4th annual Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards, being recognized for her trailblazing and inspiring efforts. The Inspiration Award is given to a recipient who has defied the odds and come out on top. Through their willingness to succeed, they have pushed through hardships and defeat to emerge as a phoenix.

While accepting her award, Cardi B told the crowd, “I’m really my biggest critic and nobody has it harder in the industry, or any music genre, than a female rapper. You gotta have the best verses and kill the charts and your personal life has to be perfect or else your opps will use it against you. Sometimes it’s hard to be yourself and express yourself in the music. We get it harder than the Pop girls. Every year my goals get bigger. Yall keep asking about my album, it’s coming but I want it to be the best because y’all give us females a hard a** time.”
