Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney’s sandwich shop, Something About Her, opened in May and has received a poor review.

Weeks after the venue finally opened its doors after several months of delays, and as the restaurant continues to see long lines and hour-long wait times, the Vanderpump Rules stars were accused of featuring “bad bread” and small portions on their menu.

Reflecting on a visit to Something About Her on a Friday around 11 a.m. in early June, Rachel Chapman published an article on Elite Daily about the experience.

“There was a bit of a crowd, but it actually wasn’t too bad,” she wrote. “The line went slightly down the block with about 50 people, including a large group of friends visiting Los Angeles. Luckily, they were ordering to go and not dining in like me and my friend, so we got seated about 20 minutes after arriving.”

Of the facilities, Rachel said Something About Her, which serves sandwiches, bakery items, and even Summer House star Kyle Cooke‘s Loverboy drink, was quite small in size, with most tables large enough for just two people and no outdoor seating.

Upon entry, Rachel was informed by employees that the two most popular items were The Cameron and The Drew. So, she purchased the $18 Italian-inspired Cameron, which featured salami, Soppressata, mortadella, roasted red peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic aioli, and balsamic on a ciabatta roll.

“Unfortunately, bad bread affected my experience at Something About Her,” Rachel stated. “The flavorless ciabatta was so dense, it equaled the amount of everything else inside. I would have preferred a bread that took a backseat, and was just a vessel for the ingredients.”

Aside from the bread, Rachel said The Cameron was “delicious and full of different flavors.”

“The spicy aioli and tangy balsamic with the salty deli meats? Chef’s kiss,” she noted.

As for The Drew, it “had a surprising blend of flavors with whipped chive-infused goat cheese, mango jalapeño jam, apple slices, fresh mint, and balsamic glaze,” which she paired with prosciutto for a total cost of $18.

“It added a nice saltiness to go along with the sweet apples and spicy jalapeño. My favorite ingredient, though, was the whipped goat cheese,” Rachel revealed.

But again, she detailed, the bread was lackluster.

“The baguette is super tough; it goes beyond delightfully crunchy and closer to rock hard territory on the bread scale,” she explained.

Rachel’s review of the sandwich shop came just weeks after its former chef, Penny Davidi, shared similar sentiments with The U.S. Sun, shading the venue’s menu as “underwhelming.”

“They don’t know how to cross-utilize. I would not bring in five different kinds of bread for 10 sandwiches,” she remarked. “I also would not put certain sandwiches on certain kinds of bread because the bread-to-meat ratio is completely off from what I’ve seen in photos and people’s posts.”

In closing, Rachel said she won’t return to Something About Her.

“As a lover of bread (like Oprah Winfrey), I can’t get behind subpar carbs … These sandwiches are also just too expensive,” she explained. “The Cameron, which was my favorite of the two, had a ton of ingredients, SAH is in a bougie neighborhood, and it’s a tourist spot for fans of Vanderpump Rules, but as a local, it’s hard to justify spending almost $20 on a sandwich more than once. They weren’t even big enough for us to save half for later.”

Although the sandwich shop may have been a miss for Rachel, patrons continue to flock to the establishment. And, earlier this week, Bravo and Cocktails shared a photo on its Instagram Story of a long line outside.

“Something About Her was packed and thriving,” they shared.

Long Line At Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney's Something About Her

Vanderpump Rules season 12 is expected to go into production sometime later this year.
