Have you ever wondered what it might be like if you went to work every day but didn’t take it home with you? If you could just carry one with your life without work memories creeping into your existence?

Well, that’s the gist of Severance, but there’s a catch. There is always a catch. To find out what it is, I urge you to watch the first season on Apple TV+.

You’ve got plenty of time to get into the story before the premiere of the second season, which was announced today.

Today, Apple TV+ unveiled the premiere date for Severance Season 2, its Emmy Award-winning and globally celebrated workplace thriller. They also shared a sneak peek showcasing what’s in store for the highly anticipated second season.

Directed and executive produced by Ben Stiller and created, written, and executive produced by Dan Erickson, the ten-episode second season of Severance will debut globally on Apple TV+, with the first episode on Friday, January 17, 2025, followed by one episode every Friday through March 21.

On Severance, Mark Scout (Adam Scott) leads a team at Lumon Industries, whose employees have undergone a severance procedure, which surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives.

This daring experiment in “work-life balance” is called into question as Mark finds himself at the center of an unraveling mystery that will force him to confront the true nature of his work… and of himself.

In Severance Season 2, Mark and his friends learn the dire consequences of trifling with the severance barrier, leading them further down a path of woe.

The teaser doesn’t do too much, but it fills us with the same existential dread that permeated the premiere season.

While there isn’t a lot of meat on this bone, we’ll take anything we can get at this point, as we’re starved for our long-gestating favorites to return.

The teaser may not reveal much, but it does give us our first glimpse of Gwendoline Christie as what appears to be a new manager prepared to make lives a living hell.

Season 2 reunites its ensemble cast of stars, including Emmy Award nominee Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Zach Cherry, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus, Dichen Lachman, Emmy Award winner John Turturro, Academy Award winner Christopher Walken and Academy and Emmy Award winner Patricia Arquette, and welcomes new series regular Sarah Bock.

“Severance” is executive produced by Ben Stiller, who also directs five episodes this season in addition to directors Uta Bresiewitz, Sam Donovan, and Jessica Lee Gagné.

The series is written, created, and executive produced by Dan Erickson.
