Here’s the trailer for an upcoming thriller titled The Critic, which stars Ian McKellen, Gemma Arterton, and Mark Strong. This looks like a good film that tells an interesting and clever story.
The Critic was directed by Anand Tucker, and it’s described as a “deliciously dark and sharp-witted thriller set in 1930s London.”
In the story, “When the most feared and vicious theatre critic in town Jimmy Erskine (McKellen), finds himself suddenly in the cross hairs of the Daily Chronicle’s new owner David Brooke (Strong), he strikes a sinister Faustian pact with struggling actress Nina Land (Arterton) who is desperate to win his favour.
The cast also includes Ben Barnes, Alfred Enoch, Romola Garai, and Lesley Manville. The Critic will be released in select UK theaters on September 13th, 2024.
