‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ Sequel Will Premiere This Fall

There may not be a sequel to The House Bunny in the works as of now, but Anna Faris does have an idea for one.

The actress spoke with People ahead of the release of her upcoming film, My Spy the Eternal City, where she discussed her 2008 cult classic that also starred Emma Stone, Kat Dennings and Rumer Willis.

“I always dream,” Faris told the publication about her desire to return to the role of Shelley Darlingson, adding that she has a vision for her character. “For a while, I was like, Shelley should be a bad country singer, and then I was thinking, ‘No, she should be a CIA interrogator.’”

The Scary Movie star continued, “Her skill is disarming people because she is perceived, and she is, as so open and nonjudgmental. So I was imagining Shelley saying, ‘Oh, what do I do for work? I’m a CIA interrogator.’ Let’s write a script. I would love that.”

The House Bunny follows Faris’ Shelley, a Playboy Bunny, who is deemed too old to be a Bunny after she turns 27 and is kicked out of Hugh Hefner’s mansion. She stumbles her way onto a college campus to try to join a sorority but is turned down by each one except Zeta Alpha Zeta, which is made up of awkward girls. So, she teaches them the art of attracting boys, thanks to her years as a Bunny.

Faris also opened up to People about why the role was so “life-changing” for her, as she got to portray someone who had such compassion and lack of judgment and “really led with her heart.”

“It sounds really corny, but I think it made me feel like it was easier to make friends in a weird way,” she said. “That’s simplistic, but I loved playing a character who was not competitive with other people, and who was really wonderful. That made me want to lead my life with compliments. It felt like kind of a way to combat jealous feelings.”
