Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez’s Marriage Labeled ‘Expensive Exercise In Closure’

The Hollywood power couple, fondly known as Bennifer, rekindled their romance after a first failed engagement but now realize that getting back together was a mistake.

The breakdown in Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s marriage is now being described as the “most elaborate and expensive exercise in closure ever.”

Affleck and Lopez first dated in the early 2000s, during which they got engaged, but eventually parted ways in 2004. They rekindled their romance in 2021 and ultimately tied the knot in 2022.

But amid rumors of an impending divorce, sources close to the couple have claimed they reunited because they had long imagined what it would be like to revisit their earlier romance.

According to insiders, the couple got “caught up in the moment,” but now that “they’ve turned the page on all the unfinished business from over 20 years ago,” they have concluded they weren’t meant to be.

“They’ve seen things through to the end — and they know for sure now that they are not built for the long haul,” a source told Page Six. “No further unanswered questions.”

The insider added, “They’ve seen all they need to see, and it’s over. In the end, it’s gonna be the most elaborate and expensive exercise in closure ever.”

Affleck and Lopez have refused to address rumors about their marriage breakdown. However, insiders have claimed they are calling it quits after just two years because their marriage is filled with “drama all the time.”

According to reports, they claimed that despite Lopez being Affleck’s “dream woman,” her life contrasted with the “Accountant” star’s preference for a quieter life.

“Jennifer has a big entourage that follows her around daily — glam squad, videographers, photographers, assistants, trainers,” the source shared, adding that Affleck prefers not to have so many people around him constantly.

According to a source, Lopez tried to make Affleck see that being her is a “24/7 job” compared to how easy it is for him to “leave his work at the door if he chooses to.” However, the entire lifestyle difference just didn’t sit right with the Oscar winner.

Sources close to the situation have claimed that Lopez is blaming Affleck for the breakdown of the marriage, saying he pursued her to rekindle their romance.

“She’s furious,” an insider told Page Six. “Affleck has humiliated her. He was the one who initiated getting back together.”

Lopez allegedly feels this way because she went to great lengths to show the world how much she loved Affleck.

This sentiment appears to be linked to her album, “This Is Me…Now,” and her documentary, “The Greatest Love Story Never Told,” both of which are said to have been inspired by their love story.

“He’s humiliated her because she made a big deal that he’s the love of her life,” the source added. “They just had two weddings two years ago. This is some kind of a record, they’re not young kids.”

In the meantime, it has been speculated that Affleck and Lopez have taken their time to make an official divorce “because they want to make sure everything is seamless when they do, especially with everyone involved.”

“Neither of them want this process to be rushed. They are treating the separation with as much grace, understanding, and gentleness as they can,” a source told Entertainment Tonight.

The couple is reportedly worried that a messy separation could negatively impact the five kids they had with their previous partners.

Affleck has three kids—Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12— with ex-wife Jennifer Garner. Meanwhile, Lopez has twins, Max and Emme, 16, with ex-husband Marc Anthony.

“They want to make sure the kids are comfortable with the transition and where they are living, etcetera,” the insider explained. “They don’t want to make it feel like they’re pulling the rug from underneath their children.”

Lopez was recently seen touring a $22 million mansion in Beverly Hills, California, after her return from the Hamptons, New York.

The house-hunting outing comes after she was seen inspecting a $68 million Beverly Hills mansion that’s just 15 minutes away from her and Affleck’s marital home, which they’ve since placed on the market for the same price.

The “On The Floor” singer recently completed the sale of her NYC apartment for $23 million, so she likely has some cash to spare as she searches for a new home.

Affleck, for his part, has already purchased a $20.5 million “bachelor pad” in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles. According to reports, the actor bought the home on Lopez’s birthday.
