Taylor Sheridan has built a television empire with his Yellowstone universe. Now, he’s adding to it with a modern-day spinoff, The Madison.

Sheridan already blessed us with two Yellowstone prequels to satisfy our Western-series cravings: 1883 and 1923.

With the future of the original series Yellowstone up in the air because of Kevin Costner’s departure, The Madison will be able to keep the Yellowstone universe going even without John Dutton, sadly.

It would have been cool to see Kevin Costner pop up in The Madison, but it’s not to be. But anything is possible in Hollywood these days, so you never know.

But The Madison will be anything but lacking in star power. Here’s what we know so far!

What is The Madison About?

The Madison is set in the modern day. It follows the story of the Clyburn family who uproots from New York City to Montana after suffering a horrific tragedy.

Paramount describes the series as “a heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana.”

The series was originally called 2024 before the title changed to The Madison.

Who is Behind The Madison?

Of course, the guiding force behind The Madison is Taylor Sheridan, the genius behind the Yellowstone universe.

Sheridan is also behind the utterly enjoyable Tulsa King as well as Mayor of Kingstown, Special Ops: Lioness, and the upcoming Landman, all on Paramount+.

Aside from Sheridan, other executive producers named on The Madison include series star Michelle Pfeiffer, David C. Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Christina Voros, Michael Friedman, and Keith Cox.

It’s being produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, and Bosque Ranch Productions.

How Does The Madison Fit Into the Yellowstone Universe?

The Madison is set in the present day. It’s not clear yet if any of the Duttons will appear in the series, so right now, we can consider it a standalone spinoff.

Yellowstone has used scenes from characters from the Yellowstone prequel and Dutton origin story, 1883, but it’s unclear if any of that will happen with The Madison.

Of course, that could change as production progresses.

Who Stars in The Madison?

The series already has plenty of big names joining the cast, and although details are slim, we do have some goodies to share.

The iconic Michelle Pfeiffer will star as Stacy Clyburn, whose story the show centers around.

Although not too many details have been released about Stacy, what we do know is that she has a tragic story.

After her husband and brother-in-law are killed in a plane crash, she leaves New York City for Montana.

We won’t rehash Pfeiffer’s massive list of movie credits, but the last time she appeared on TV was in the 2022 Showtime drama series, The First Lady.

Matthew Fox is the most recent addition to the cast of The Madison. He plays Paul, a self-reliant bachelor who loves the outdoors.

The actor is most known for his roles in Party of Five and Lost.

Fox has been relatively quiet on the television front, so it’ll be nice to see him back on the American small screen. He most recently starred in the 2023 Australian television comedy series C*A*U*G*H*T.

Patrick J. Adams will play Russell McIntosh, Paige’s husband. Russell is a young investment banker who has followed the life path set before him from the start.

Of course, Adams is best known for his role as Mike Adams on Suits. He most recently starred in the Canadian drama series Plan B.

Beau Garrett plays Abigail Reese, Stacy’s daughter. Abigail is a recently divorced mother of two who is a resilient and sardonic New Yorker.

Garrett has several TV credits to name, including a lead role in the 2021 Netflix series Firefly Lane with Kathryn Heigl and the 2014 Bravo series A Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce.

She also appeared in The Good Doctor, The Rookie, and Longmire.

Elle Chapman will play Stacy’s other daughter, Paige McIntosh. Paige is a somewhat self-centered woman who indulges in a luxurious New York lifestyle provided by her parents and her husband, Russell.

This is Chapman’s first major role on American television. Previously, she starred in the Spanish series The Girl in the Mirror (original title, Alma), which is now airing on Netflix.

She also appeared in the 2022 film A Man Called Otto, starring Tom Hanks.

When Will The Madison Premiere?

No premiere date has yet been announced for The Madison. Cast members are still being added, so production has yet to begin.

However, filming is reportedly set to begin in late August 2024 in Montana, NYC, and Texas.

Where Can I Watch The Madison?

There are no official details on which network The Madison will air. But some reports state it will air on Paramount rather than Paramount+.

If it does premiere on Paramount, it would make sense to premiere the series in conjunction with Yellowstone Season 5b, but we’ll have to wait to see if that’s how things play out.

How Many Episodes Will The Madison Season 1 Have?

There is no word yet on how many The Madison episodes we’ll get to enjoy, but we expect there will be between 10 and 12 based on other shows in the Yellowstone Universe.

Is There a Trailer for The Madison Season 1?

Since the show has yet to begin filming, there isn’t a trailer yet. Boo!

But be sure to watch this space for updates on any new developments.
