On Aug. 29, GloRilla hopped on Instagram Live to address fans who have alleged that her label has pressured her into adopting a sexier image since her rise to fame.
On Wednesday, the 25-year-old rapper clarified the situation a few days after sharing a topless Instagram video promoting her feature on Rob 49’s hit song “Mama,” alongside Skilla Baby. In the steamy clip, which was posted on Aug. 16, the Memphis native wore embellished high-waisted jeans, a snapback hat and an icy chain, dancing to her new track while showing off her distinctive outfit.
Haters swiftly flooded the comments section, telling the rapper to put her shirt back on and suggesting that members of her label, CMG Records, should be “fired” for the topless promo clip. However, GloRilla quickly responded, letting fans know that she choose independently to show off her “titties” for the gram.
“Let me tell you b—s something,” the femcee said at the 3:32 minute-mark of her Instagram Live video. “Y’all had so much to say because I was dancing to my song holding my titties. Don’t worry about what me and my titties doing. B—h, I bought them.”
The star who was recently featured on the cover of Vibe magazine continued, “The label ain’t making me do shit. A ho gone be a ho. Y’all just be swearing muthaf–kas make muthaf–kas do shit. Like, everything I do, I be wanting to do it. Y’all just got to learn to mind your business sometimes.”
GloRilla addressed claims that her sexier appearance was a marketing ploy to boost sales, offering a humorous explanation for her recent thirst trap posts.
“It ain’t about no label making me do shit,” she added. “It’s about me looking for some hoes.”
GloRilla is finishing up her debut album.
GloRilla, born Gloria Hallelujah Woods, first gained widespread recognition with her breakthrough single, “F.N.F. (Let’s Go),” in 2022, which became a viral hit and established her as a prominent voice on the rap scene. She signed to CMG Records that year. GloRilla’s energetic style and distinctive voice quickly garnered attention, and she followed up with notable tracks such as “Tomorrow 2,” featuring Cardi B, and “Blessed,” further solidifying her presence in the industry.
Now, the rising star has her eyes set on completing her debut studio album that will showcase more of her authenticity and vibrant lyricism. During her interview with Vibe, the hip-hop standout offered little details about the direction of the forthcoming project, but she hinted that fans will get to see her step outside of her comfort zone on the album.
“Gotti told me don’t get comfortable. Keep your foot on the gas,” GloRilla shared, reflecting on wise words from her label manager, Yo Gotti. “The moment you let up, everything will just go downhill…it’s about consistency and who can have longevity. That’s success.”
