Elton John took to social media to share that he is in the process of healing from a serious eye infection that led to temporary vision loss in one of his eyes.
In a statement shared online on Tuesday, the 77-year-old icon known for hits like “Rocket Man” disclosed his condition. “Over the summer, I’ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye,” John shared to his Instagram account. “I am healing, but it’s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye.”

After John’s update, numerous celebrities, such as Billie Jean King, took to social media to send their best wishes for his swift recovery. “Sending our love and support your way. Feel better soon, friend,” King wrote. “Sending you so much love Elton! Feel better soon. Love you,” commented fashion designer Donatella Versace.
In the past few years, John has faced various health challenges. Most notably, in 2023, he was hospitalized for a short time as a precautionary measure following a fall at his villa in Nice, France, according to a report from TODAY.
“Following a slip yesterday at his home in the south of France, Elton visited the local hospital as a precautionary measure,” a statement from John’s representative shared with TODAY. “Following checkups, he was immediately discharged this morning and (he is) now back at home and in good health.”

In 2021, the artist behind “Benny and the Jets” underwent hip surgery after suffering an awkward fall on a rigid surface. This led to delays in his farewell tour schedule as he focused on his recovery.
By July 2023, John officially concluded his touring career, finishing up his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour.
