Madelyn Cline, the star of Netflix’s hit Outer Banks, and KJ Apa, best known for starring in CW show Riverdale, are set to topline The Map That Leads to You, a romantic drama set up at Amazon MGM Studios.
Sofia Wylie (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series), Madison Thompson (Ozark), Orlando Norman (Tummy Monster) and Josh Lucas (Palm Royale) have also joined the cast.
Lasse Hallström, the Swedish filmmaker behind weepie Dear John as well as What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, is directing the love story, which adapts the novel of the same name by J. P. Monninger. Les Bohem (Shut Eye) and Vera Herbert (This is Us) wrote the script.
Producing are Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, Isaac Klausner and John Fischer.
The film follows a young woman (Cline), who meets an enigmatic stranger (Apa) while on a post-grad European vacation with some friends. The insta-attraction will be tested by life and duty, and a secret or two, as the man changes her life…wait for it…forever.

Cline is best known for playing Sarah Cameron on Outer Banks, which recently wrapped filming its fourth season. Among her credits are appearances in Focus Features’ Boy Erased and Netflix’s Stranger Things. She was also part of the bold-faced list of suspects in Rian Johnson’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. She is due to shoot a reboot of horror movie I Know What You Did Last Summer for Sony. Cline is repped by CAA, Entertainment 360, Bold Talent Agency and Hirsch Wallerstein.
Apa is best known for breaking out as Archie Andrews on Riverdale, which was a novel take on the classic clean-cut comic book. He recently finished shooting Gulfstream rom-rom Falling, and starred in the motorcycle drama One Fast Move for Amazon MGM. Apa is repped by UTA, Luber Roklin Entertainment, Mandy Jacobsen, Red 11 Management and Jackoway Austen.
