Nearly three months after his assassination attempt in Butler, PA, former President Donald Trump makes his return to the site where he almost lost his life, and welcomes Tesla and X CEO Elon Musk as his cheerleader and speech-giver, as well as running mate, Ohio Senator J.D. Vance.

On Saturday (October 5), Donald Trump hosted another campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, the same place where a gunman fired several shots, killing one person, a 50-year-old former firefighter chief named Corey Comperatore, and grazing Trump on the right ear. The gunman was identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, of Bethel Park, PA. He was killed during the incident by Secret Service snipers.
Making his return to Butler, PA, Donald Trump opened his speech with the audience roaring in cheers as he returned to the site where he nearly lost his life just about three months ago. He began by thanking the crowd of Pennsylvanians and making a light joke about the attempt on his life, by joking, “And as I was saying…”

During his speech, the Republican candidate made it a point to attack his opponents (like President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris), whom he claimed, “maybe even tried to kill me.” He stated, “Above all, you deserve leadership in Washington that does not answer to the lobbyists, to the bureaucrats, or to the corrupt special interests, but answers only to you, the hardworking citizens of America, of which there are a lot of them.”
He continued, “We have a lot of them. We have a lot of them over the past eight years, those who want to stop us from achieving this future have slandered me, impeached me, indicted me, tried to throw me off the ballot, and who knows, maybe even tried to kill me. But I’ve never stopped fighting for you. And I never will.”

Donald Trump also welcomed his friend, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who excitedly jumped for joy as he made his way on stage before telling the audience to “fight, fight, fight,” and “vote, vote, vote!” While wearing a black “Make America Great Again” hat and T-shirt that read, “Occupy Mars,” Musk jokingly referred to a Dark Brandon meme and told a massive crowd of 60,000 Donald Trump supporters, “As you can see, I am not just MAGA — I am Dark MAGA.”
He continued to call the upcoming November 5 election “the most important election of our lifetime.” He added, “This is no ordinary election. The other side wants to take away your freedom of speech.” At the beginning of his speech, he told the crowd, “I want to say what an honor it is to be here and, you know, the true test of someone’s character is how they behave under fire, right? And we had one president who couldn’t climb a flight of stairs and another who was fist pumping after getting shot.”
While Elon Musk has been vocal about his endorsement of Donald Trump, this is the first time that he has appeared at a major presidential campaign event for the former President.
