An alleged unboxing video of the unannounced 14-inch MacBook Pro with the new M4 chip surfaced on YouTube, shared by Russian tech channel Wylsacom.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, known for credible Apple-related leaks, reportedly shared the video on X (formerly Twitter). This stirred discussions about the device’s potential features and release. The leak follows earlier rumors, with leaker ShrimpApplePro posting images connected to the same MacBook unit. This unit was reportedly sold in a private Facebook group.
The video highlights four key upgrades that could be coming to the base model 14-inch MacBook Pro (via MacRumors). First, the M4 chip, which boasts a 10-core CPU, promises a 25% increase in performance compared to the M3 chip, according to an alleged Geekbench 6 benchmark shared in the video.
Apple introduced the M4 chip in the iPad Pro earlier this year. This suggests the new MacBook will offer significantly faster performance. Additionally, the packaging indicates that 16GB of RAM may become the new base memory configuration. This change aligns with ongoing rumors about Apple increasing RAM standards across its Mac lineup.
Additionally, the MacBook Pro may feature three Thunderbolt 4 ports. This would be an upgrade from the current two Thunderbolt 3 ports in the base model.
