RHOBH OG Kyle Richards breaks her silence on sister Kim Richards’ relapse and recent health crisis. She also teases “rough” and “challenging” season 14.
As Bravo fans gear up for season 14 of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, OG star Kyle Richards is shedding some light on the dynamics fans can expect while also speaking out about her sister Kim Richards’ recent relapse.
“It was rough for me, definitely, for the first time in 14 years, I really said, ‘I can’t do this anymore,’” Kyle revealed wile chatting with Access Hollywood. “But here I am. I’m still standing. It was difficult. It was challenging. And the dynamics have also shifted in the group a lot. So there was a lot of changes.”
While Kyle says that single life is “treating [her] pretty well,” she also notes that that she doesn’t “consider [herself] single.”
“Because that implies that I’m actually looking to meet somebody, which I’m not,” she said. Kyle and her husband, Mauricio Umansky split in July 2023 after 27 years of marriage. He has since moved on with 33-year-old Nakita Kahn. The two were spotted kissing and getting cozy in Greece and Mexico over the summer.
When asked about her sister Kim Richards’ recent relapse and mental health crisis, Kyle said she is supporting her sister just like she “would any other time that [Kim has] gone through a difficult time.”
“My family very much sticks together in these times even though it’s obviously difficult and challenging. It’s a difficult situation, as you can imagine,” the RHOBH OG explained.
Kyle Richards also opened up about Kim’s recent struggles during an interview with Page Six.
“We are a family, [so] when something’s going on with one of us, we all sort of stick together and circle around each other and try to be there and lift each other up,” the 55-year-old shared. “So that’s what I’ve been trying to do.”
The longtime reality star then hinted that their family drama will most likely be featured on season 14 of RHOBH as both she and older sister Kathy Hilton are giving Kim tough love in order steering her back into sobriety.
“Of course, you never want to show the most difficult parts of your life, but I don’t have that luxury,” she explained. “It’s unfortunate for me, but for the audience, they get to see that.”
As previously reported, Kim Richards fell off the wagon yet again last month. Earlier last month, Kim was placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold after acting incoherent at a Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles and refusing to leave the property. That same month, cops were called to Kyle Richards‘ Los Angeles homes after a neighbor called to have Kim removed from the property. The neighbors were reportedly concerned about Kim’s behavior. Kim currently remains in the house as it is a civil matter.
Kyle told law enforcement that she did not want Kim in the house as the family had cut off all contact in hopes it would push her to get sober again.
Kim Richards starred on RHOBH from season 1 to 5 alongside Kyle, who infamously outed her addiction to alcohol during the season one finale. The Bravo alum, who attempted various stints in rehab, some successful and some not, was previously arrested in 2015 following a drunken rampage at The Beverly Hills Hotel.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is expected to return for season 14 in late 2024 or early 2025.
