Oop! Rapper, singer, and songwriter Lizzo isn’t taking any Detroit slander from Donald Trump or anyone else as she spoke at Vice President Kamala Harris’ Detroit rally and addressed the former President’s recent negative comments about her hometown.

As we previously shared, Donald Trump held a rally in Detroit, Michigan last Thursday (October 10). While speaking to the Detroit Economic Club at the Motor City Casino, Trump insulted the city as he attempted to slam VP Kamala Harris.
In a long, rambling speech, Trump blasted VP Harris and claimed she posed a threat to the United States. He claimed that if the Democratic nominee were to be elected into office on November 5, she would cause great harm to our country. At one point, after talking about trade, Trump said he didn’t think Harris was too concerned about it.

He said, “I don’t think anything that we’re talking about today is high on her list. The whole country is going to be like… You want to know the truth? It’ll be like Detroit. Our whole country will end up being like Detroit if she’s your president. You’re going to have a mess on your hands.”
Trump also compared the city to a “developing nation.” Trump went on to claim that Harris had already “destroyed San Francisco,” where she served as District Attorney.

On Saturday (October 19), Detroit native Lizzo joined Vice President at her rally in the city. While there, the “About Damn Time” singer boasted about her love for the city and blasted Donald Trump’s negative comments about her hometown.
She said, “I’m so proud to be from this city. You know, they say if Kamala Harris wins, then the whole country will be like Detroit, okay? Proud like Detroit. Resilient like Detroit.” Clapping back at Trump comparing Detroit to a “developing nation,” Lizzo fired off, “We’re talking about the same Detroit that innovated the auto industry and the music industry, so put some respect on Detroit’s name, okay!”
