April 17-19 Box Office Recap – ‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ stays at #1 on its third weekend and crosses $750M worldwide, but it’s dropping faster than expected. ‘Lee Cronin’s The Mummy’ opens with a solid $13.5M domestically and $34.4M worldwide. A24’s ‘The Drama’ nears $100M worldwide.

Blumhouse horror movie producer Jason Blum has offered an update on the upcoming adaption of the hit video game Dead By Daylight, and it sounds like fans are gonna have to wait a while.

While at New York Comic-Con, Blum was asked about the film during an interview with CB, and he said: “Working on the script. You know, we don’t put movies in the calendar until we have the right script.”

He went on to manage expectations, saying: “It took 10 years to make Five Nights at Freddy’s, and I think one of the reasons the movie worked is because we spent 10 years trying to get it right.

“I hope we get a script that we love. We’re working on a script, but it could be five years, it could be 12 months. You just don’t know. You can’t make the movie until the script is right, and you don’t know how long that’ll take.”

This is why a lot of the films at Blumhouse are so good. They actually have a script in place and ready to go before they start shooting. I like that they take their time with their film projects.

In Dead by Daylight, one player takes on the role of a savage Killer, while the other four players try to escape and keep from getting caught, tortured, and killed. Some of the demented killers include The Nurse, The Wraith, The Hag, and more.

There are even classic movie villains and characters licensed from films that have been added to the game such as Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger, and Pinhead.

Atomic Monster Founder and CEO James Wan said: “In ‘Dead by Daylight’ the Behaviour team has created a love letter to the world of horror, building an incredible environment teeming with atmosphere and terrifying villains — perfect for a scary cinematic adaptation.

“We’re big fans of the game at Atomic Monster, and are thrilled to be teaming up with Blumhouse to bring this frighteningly visceral world to the big screen.”

Blum previously said: “We know there are so many fans of ‘Dead by Daylight’ out there and think it’s imperative we find someone who appreciates and loves the world as much as we do, to help us bring the game to the big screen. We know our partners at Behaviour and Atomic Monster will help us bring the best version of this game to life.”

Stephen Mulrooney, executive vice president at Behaviour Interactive said in a statement: “We couldn’t be more thrilled to work with Jason Blum and James Wan, two giants of the horror film industry, to further expand the ‘Dead by Daylight’ universe.

“At Behaviour, our motto is to create unique moments, together, forever. Atomic Monster and Blumhouse are the ideal partners to craft ‘Dead by Daylight’s’ killer entrance onto the big screen.”

Gamers have enjoyed playing Dead By Daylight since its launch in 2016, with over 50 million players worldwide and two million players venturing into The Fog every single day.

It will be fun to experience this horror experience in movie form.
