Ariana Madix Hints at Something About Her Expansion

Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney appear to be preparing to expand their West Hollywood sandwich shop, Something About Her.

Less than six months after the Vanderpump Rules stars opened its doors to the public, and as they allegedly face financial and zoning issues pertaining to their outdoor space, Ariana, 39, took to her Instagram Story, where she revealed that something special was “coming soon.”

“Coming soon,” Ariana captioned the photo, via Bravo’s The Daily Dish. “Something About Tea.”

In the accompanying photo, a three-tiered tray filled with pastries and miniature sandwiches sat alongside a couple of teacups, a tea kettle, and a wine bottle filled with flowers.

Currently, Ariana and Katie, 37, offer a selection of tea at their restaurant, including sparkling tea and Kyle Cooke‘s Loverboy Hard Tea. However, miniature sandwiches are not listed on their menu, nor is there a designated tea time at the venue.

In other Pump Rules news, an October 11 report from The U.S. Sun confirmed that due to budget and zoning issues, construction has been halted on Ariana and Katie’s new patio, which they were forced to rip down earlier this year.

Because the original outdoor space in front of Something About Her was not up to code, Ariana and Katie had to replace their signage and reconstruct the area. They also planned to add another outdoor space, in a side alley, where customers could sit and enjoy their meals.

“[There are] no plans for the patio as of now, there haven’t been any updates,” an insider said. “Everyone was excited about getting outdoor space and just more space in general but they put that on hold for now because it would have been really expensive, more than they thought.”

“There’s also issues with the city,” the source continued. “It’s extremely difficult and pricey to get these things approved and I know it’s been a struggle with permits. It’s hard with the [neighboring businesses] so close by, figuring out where to put it, there really isn’t space. Everyone would love it though so they’re trying.”

The insider went on to say that while Something About Her is under new management, everyone is “doing their best” with the circumstances they’ve found themselves in. And, as fans have surely heard, the restaurant has been doing quite well as-is.

According to the report, Ariana and Katie filed for a new permit for their patio space at the end of last year, along with their plans to revamp the 20-square-foot patio with a replacement canopy that is up to code. And in April of this year, the request was approved, and a permit was issued.

Still, six months later, no progress has been made on Something About Her’s patio.

“The drawings that were submitted for the new outdoor dining space don’t look the same as it was before. They’re not giving up hope since the outdoor dining area would be beneficial to the business and will allow for more seating space,” a source explained.

Vanderpump Rules is currently on pause ahead of its 12th season.
