Teddi Mellencamp Files For Divorce After 13 Years Of Marriage

The “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star has filed for divorce from her marriage of 13 years to estranged husband, Edwin Arroyave, after her emotional announcement two days ago.

Teddi Mellencamp and Edwin Arroyave officially became man and wife in 2011 and reportedly attempted divorce in 2017.

The reality star dropped off her motion for divorce at the court on Friday and listed October 20th as the official date of separation from her estranged partner.

Mellencamp and Arroyave share three kids. The reality star cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for her spoilt, however, she was spotted wearing her wedding band a day after the filing.

As for their children, Mellencamp demanded full primary and legal custody with an option for visitations from Arroyave. TMZ noted that she also sought spousal support and ticked the box to block the court’s ability to award Arroyave spousal support.

The filing is not Mellencamp’s first experience with divorce from her former spouse, although she did not pull through the first time. She informed her Instagram followers of the decision on Saturday, explaining that it had to be done to protect her family from baseless speculations and permutations.

“After a great deal of care and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce,” the statement began. “My priority is my children and ensuring that every care is taken with their privacy and wellbeing throughout this new chapter.”

The reality star added, “Making a public statement is not something I wanted to do, butin an effort to protect my family from undue speculation and rumors, I felt being open, honest, and vulnerable was the best path forward.”

She switched off the comment section on the post, which came over a week after the estranged couple appeared loved up at an event in October.

There was no sign of trouble in paradise when the now-separated lovebirds attended the Melanoma Research Foundation gala on October 24. The 47-year-old gave a quick rundown of their outing on Instagram, posting a collection of slides and videos from the gala.

Arroyave appeared dapper in a suit, and the 43-year-old opted for a glittering maxi dress that showed off her gorgeous arms and cleavage. He accompanied the post with a mind-blowing caption:

“I always say life and pain are inseparable. And to see @teddimellencamp embrace her pain and use it for the greater good again last night as she emceed the @curemelanoma gala, was a beautiful reminder of what she is capable of.”

The TV personality praised her for being vulnerable with her skin cancer struggles, declaring that “her story has already saved lives.” He concluded his post by expressing his pride that Mellencamp will continue saving lives, adding, “Love you, Teds.”

The Blast reported in January that the reality star shared a vital update on Instagram following a surgery she went in for amid her struggle with Melanoma.

The post featured a picture of her showing off a scar from the melanoma surgery. “I got the final report back from my oncologist,” she began in the caption before adding:

“Final report is all good. Some atypical areas, but no melanoma. We’ll have to keep a close watch on you, but it’s all good now. I’ll want to see you in about three months. Sooner if you have any concerns.”

She thanked the healthcare workers who have played a crucial role in her journey and promised to be hands-on with her three-month checkup while encouraging others to prioritize routine skin checks.

The TV star has shown enviable bravery since her diagnosis by sharing her struggles with her 1 million Instagram followers and podcast listeners. She even documented her journey through the removal of her 13th melanoma on her Instagram story.

“I’m out of surgery. Now I’m just waiting to be discharged to the nursing facility,” she said in a Story video, adding, “It’s pretty painful but I am so grateful that they did such a great job. That back skin is tight. Struggle bus, but I’m hoping they got it all.”

The podcaster explained that she underwent a wide excision melanoma, soft tissue defect reconstruction with adjacent tissue rearrangement, which required them to cut out the area of her shoulder and replace it with a flap of skin from below her back. 

Mellencamp concluded the post by once again encouraging her followers to get their skin checked, adding, “I promise you do not want to go through this.”
