Teddi Mellencamp shockingly shared the news over the weekend, writing on Instagram, “After a great deal of care and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce. My priority is my children and ensuring that every care is taken with their privacy and wellbeing throughout this new chapter. Making a public statement is not something I wanted to do but in an effort to protect my family from undue speculation and rumors, I felt being open, honest and vulnerable was the best path forward.“
Teddi later shared a video of herself on a treadmill writing, “No matter what all of us are going through there is one certain, moving your body, raising your heart rate, having a little sweat, and taking care of yourself is going to make you feel better.”
Since the announcement, Edwin shared an Instagram story selfie writing, “you’re not always going to be motivated or inspired. That’s where rituals and habits come in. Having good habits is what will get you through your dark days. It’s when you’re under pressure that your true character is revealed.”
Just last week Edwin shared a photo with him and his wife praising Teddi saying he couldn’t be prouder of her.
Teddi hadn’t shared very much of her husband on Instagram with the last post being 26 weeks ago.
According to TMZ, “Teddi is seeking spousal support … and she checked the box to block the court’s ability to award Edwin spousal support.” Teddi is also seeking full custody.
Teddi Mellencamp was photographed walking down a street in Los Angeles on the same day she announced her split. She was pictured wearing a ring on her wedding finger. The couple have three kids together .
