Is There a The Institute Episode 9 Release Date & Time?

Just in time for Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary, you can now watch Saturday Night, the new film based on the making-of the variety show’s very first episode, at home — even if it’s still playing on a screen near you.

The comedy starring Gabriel LaBelle, Rachel Sennott and Cory Michael Smith is now available to stream online through premium video-on-demand platforms. You can buy Saturday Night digitally in 4K Ultra HD for $24.99, or rent for $19.99 at Prime Video, Apple TV and elsewhere.

At a Glance: How to Watch Saturday Night Online

Below, watch the official trailer and keep reading for more details on where to stream Saturday Night online, including when it’s expected to land on Netflix.

Where to Stream Saturday Night Online

Distributed by Sony Pictures, Saturday Night is expected to stream on Netflix when its current theatrical run is over. The movie studio made a deal with Netflix for the streaming rights for their films, so you’ll likely be able to stream Saturday Night on Netflix sometime in late December or early January 2025.

In the meantime, Saturday Night in 4K Ultra HD is available digitally to buy for $24.99 or to rent for $19.99 on Prime Video, Apple TV and other video-on-demand platforms. Tickets to see the film in theaters are still available at Fandango.com and elsewhere.

Saturday Night: Plot, Cast, Run Time

Directed by Jason Reitman, Saturday Night follows the chaos and fury behind the scenes between writers, cast and crew, performers and TV executives in the last 90 minutes leading up to the first episode of Saturday Night Live being broadcast live on Oct. 11, 1975. A young Lorne Michaels (Gabriel LaBelle) keeps things together amid the disarray as he tries to put together a show.

The comedy also stars Sennott, Smith, Ella Hunt, Dylan O’Brien, Emily Fairn, Matt Wood, Lamorne Morris, Kim Matula, Finn Wolfhard, Nicholas Braun, Cooper Hoffman, Andrew Barth Feldman, Kaia Gerber, Tommy Dewey, Willem Dafoe, Matthew Rhys, J. K. Simmons and others. It runs one hour and 49 minutes.
