Teddi Mellencamp’s estranged husband, Edwin Arroyave, allegedly had an affair with her former “best friend,” Missy.
As insiders claimed that Teddi’s alleged affair with horse trainer Simon Schroeder isn’t the scandal people want it to be and said the 43-year-old Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum is “scared” of what Edwin, 47, is “willing to do” to look good amid their divorce, it was reported that Edwin was unfaithful, too.
According to a Page Six report on November 14, one insider accused Edwin of cheating on Teddi with Missy for “at least a year” between 2015 and 2016. However, another said it was closer to “six months” and that Teddi and Missy “maybe interacted four times at most.”
After discovering the reported affair in March 2016 as she auditioned for RHOBH season eight, the second source said Teddi, who previously admitted that she and Edwin nearly divorced around that time, wanted to work on the marriage. And while Edwin was said to be ready to walk away, he agreed to work things out and “closed that chapter of his life.”
The insider added that Edwin’s alleged affair “led to a period of self-reflection and a renewed focus on family and faith.”
Meanwhile, the first source noted that Teddi was unaware of how much Edwin had cheated — and if he’d been with more than one person — because he couldn’t “remember.” Still, the other insider insisted Edwin “has not repeated the behavior since.”
Another insider confirmed Teddi’s alleged affair with Simon, who was also married, to Entertainment Tonight, but they added, “It’s not the scandal people want it to be … Teddi has been trying to end her 13-year marriage for quite some time after forgiving Edwin for indiscretions.”
As for how the RHOBH alum is coping with the split, she is said to be afraid of what Edwin will do to remain looking good after the reveal of her reported affair.
“[He’s] determined to come out on top for this divorce,” a source told The U.S. Sun. “He wants to look good and wants to maintain custody of the kids so he’s willing to do whatever to make that happen. [Teddi’s] scared it’s gotten to this point and has grown more and more afraid of what he’s willing to do. Her support from her girlfriends, specifically Kyle Richards, has been helping her navigate this mess. If it wasn’t for the support from her friends and her love for her kids, not sure what Teddi would do.”
For now, Teddi is staying focused on the “well-being” of her and Edwin’s kids, including daughters Slate, 12, and Dove, 4, and son Cruz, 10.
“She hates [the kids] are being dragged through this and she hates even more so how public it’s become so shielding her kids from all of this negativity is her top priority,” the insider noted. “Because of this, she is really disappointed Edwin can’t have the same grace towards her.”
In response to the claims, however, a source told Page Six “there is zero truth to the report that Edwin is trying to take down Teddi.”
“He’s always wanted to keep this matter amicable for the whole family,” they added.
On Thursday, following the reveal of her alleged affair, Teddi released a statement on her podcast.
“There’s multiple sides to every story. I’m not going to confirm or deny anything, but there’s many people involved, and I once again say the same statement I said before: The kids, they are the priority. And so for the time being that’s all I’m going to discuss on this,” she explained, via Vanderpod Recaps on Instagram.
