Gypsy Rose Blanchard And Ryan Anderson Set Divorce Court Date

Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ryan Anderson’s relationship began in 2020 when Ryan, a special education teacher from Louisiana, reached out to Gypsy through letters while she was in prison. Their communication blossomed into a romance, and they met in person for the first time in June 2021.

In July 2022, the couple married in a prison ceremony while Gypsy was serving her sentence for her involvement in the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard was released on parole in December 2023, but by March 2024, she announced her separation from Ryan Anderson, explaining that she needed time for personal growth.

The divorce proceedings included mutual restraining orders, signaling deep personal conflicts between the two. Gypsy later described the divorce as an emotionally difficult experience, calling it “heartbreaking.” Ryan also expressed his heartbreak over the separation, admitting he had envisioned a future with Gypsy and was deeply saddened by their divorce.

Shortly after her split from Ryan, Gypsy rekindled her relationship with her ex-fiancé, Ken Urker, and in July 2024, they announced they were expecting their first child together.

Ryan and Gypsy will come face to face on December 9 to make their divorce final. She had previously described the marriage as stressful, citing pressure from social media and public attention, which she said left her feeling like she had lost a part of herself.

“I think that there is a sense of freedom of following your heart, following what you feel like is right for you,” she told PEOPLE of her marriage. “In my marriage, I felt like a part of me was lost in it, and so I feel like I found that missing piece of myself that I always felt was lost and now reclaiming that back. I definitely feel a sense of belonging in that space.”

On Monday, August 5, the former couple reached a “consent judgment,” filing the necessary paperwork in Louisiana. According to documents obtained by Us Weekly, both parties agreed to waive any claims for spousal support, a decision that was approved by a judge the following day.

Additionally, as part of the agreement, Ryan Anderson had to withdraw his divorce petition, which he filed on April 11—just three days after Gypsy submitted her own paperwork in a different county.

After her separation from Anderson, Gypsy Rose moved back to her family home in Cut Off, Louisiana, where she now lives with her father, Rod, and stepmother, Kristy. She also reconnected with her former fiancé, Ken Urker, whom she initially met during her time in prison.

“I’m in love,” she said about her relationship with Ken. “He was a support when I was going through emotional hardship. But then I let myself open up to the feelings I’ve always had for him. For the first time in my life, I’m doing something that makes me happy — I’m prioritizing me.”

Ryan had previously expressed concerns about Ken’s ongoing involvement in her life.

In August 2024, Ryan Anderson revealed that he was required to take a DNA test due to the timing of his estranged wife Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s pregnancy. Initially, both agreed to delay the paternity test until after the baby’s birth, citing practicality and cost savings. Pre-birth paternity tests typically cost between $500 and $2,000, while post-birth tests are considerably cheaper, ranging from $150 to $200.

However, plans have since changed and Gypsy has opted to proceed with a pre-birth paternity test. This decision complies with Louisiana state law, which presumes a husband or ex-husband to be the father if a child is born within 300 days of a divorce unless proven otherwise. The test has confirmed that her boyfriend, Ken Urker, is the father on the of the unborn child.
