Dorit Kemsley is revealing why she hasn’t told her children about her split from her husband, PK.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 48, and British property developer announced their separation in May, and their marital issues are playing out on the new season of RHOBH, which premiered last week.
On the Tuesday, November 26, episode of RHOBH season 14, Dorit told newcomer Bozoma Saint John that she hadn’t told son Jagger, 10, and daughter Phoenix, 8, about her separation from their father. On the RHOBH After Show, she explained why.
“PK and I separated under the guise that we were going to take some time apart — but it was very amicable — and we were going to work through our issues in therapy. So, for me to have told the kids, taken them on this journey … [maybe] if they were different kids, if it was a different situation,” the Beverly Beach founder explained.

Dorit continued, “I don’t think there’s one right or wrong answer. I think you have to make a judgment call based on the kids, the situation. I felt instinctually that, PK and I, once we have more answers that it’ll be easier to bring them on the journey because when they ask questions, I’ve got more answers.”
Following their separation, PK moved out of their shared Beverly Hills home, and Dorit said that she told the kids that their dad was away on business.
“It’s always that Daddy’s working,” she said. “Even when we hadn’t had a fight, PK was traveling for work … it was obviously a very good excuse when we had a fight because that’s what he was doing all the time.”
According to Dorit, the Housewives star is open and willing to talk to Jagger and Phoenix about her and PK’s separation if the kids start asking questions about their marriage.
“They are 8 and 10, so if they start asking me questions, I’m not going to lie to them and I’m not going to make something up,” she told Bozoma on the After Show. “I will answer their questions and judging by the types of questions they’re asking and the information they want to know… That’s how I would introduce them to the situation.”
Dorit opened up about her split from PK during the RHOBH season 14 premiere earlier this month, telling Erika Jayne that PK was a “full-blown alcoholic.”

Dorit told Erika that PK “was pouring alcohol on his” problems within their marriage. “It got very very very toxic,” she alleged.
Dorit explained that there was “no catastrophic event” that caused the eventual separation.
“A week ago, there was a moment, and it was over nothing, and one thing led to another,” Dorit recalled. “We sat down like two very mature adults, who love and care about one another and mutually decided that taking some space and separating is the best thing for us.”
