Yvette Nicole Brown, 53, is just one month away from walking down the aisle with her fiancé, Anthony Davis. To kick off the celebration, the Community actress hosted an elegant bridal shower with the help of her best friends and sorority sisters at 1010 Wine & Events in Inglewood, California, as reported by Essence.
The event was beautifully curated with assistance from wedding planner William P. Miller, taking place at the chic, black-owned venue. The space was adorned with stunning pink and white roses, creating a romantic atmosphere. Guests, including close friends and family, enjoyed an unforgettable celebration filled with music, dancing, and plenty of laughs.
A video posted to Brown’s Instagram on Nov. 19 showcased the fun-filled moments, with guests sipping on specialty cocktails, dancing to tunes by DJ Candice Manier, and indulging in treats from Southern Girl Desserts.
The bridal shower’s theme, “Our Pearl Has Found Her Diamond,” paid tribute to both Brown’s love for her fiancé and her connection to her beloved sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Essence noted. Brown became a proud member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority 30 years ago when she graduated from the University of Akron, where she joined the Delta Pi chapter. The theme also celebrated the sorority’s iconic pearls and Brown’s stunning diamond engagement ring.
According to the outlet, the bridal shower festivities included jewelry-making, games, and a touching video montage of sweet messages and photos. Guests were also treated to party favors before enjoying a beautiful two-tiered white floral cake, adorned with pearls and diamonds. Among the attendees were Brown’s close friends and fellow stars, including Vanessa Bell Calloway, Lela Rochon Fuqua, Kym Whitley, Sa’Rah Jones, Kim Fields, Essence Atkins, Holly Robinson Peete, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Cree Summer Francks, and Yvette Lee Bowser, who all gathered to celebrate the Hollywood veteran as she prepares for her big day.
On Instagram, Brown sent a loving message to all her close friends, thanking everyone who came to show love at the bridal shower.
“To all my girls who have walked with me on this journey — many who CARRIED me at times — from elementary school thru last week… thank you for showing up in person or in spirit,” she penned. “Your true friendship, love, and loyalty is truly Heaven sent. I hope I have always shown up for each of you the way you continue to show up and show out for me. I love you all so very much!”
Brown wants women to know that love can happen at any age.

This will be Brown’s first marriage, and she’s thrilled that love has finally come into her life at the perfect time. In an April interview on Getting Grilled with Curtis Stone, the actress shared that she hopes her love story serves as a reminder that love is attainable at any age.
“To be my age, to be single as long as I was single and to have waited — you know, I didn’t just grab a guy, I waited until I found the guy my heart loves, that’s a testimony and that’s also aspirational and inspirational to women that are in my position,” Brown, who was joined by Davis, shared in the interview published on April 26.
“I would love for a 40-something or a 50-something woman to see this story and go, ‘Okay, it’s right for me to wait for the right one, or to not just marry whoever asks me first if I don’t feel it.’ It is still possible.”
Love has been in the making for Brown and her fiancé for decades. According to Brown’s December interview on The View, she and Davis have known each other since they were in their 20s, with their romance manifesting thanks to their incredible friendship.
“We were in an acting class together at church years ago,” Brown said during the Dec. 12, 2023, show. “He’s an amazing actor, by the way. Anthony Davis, everybody. He was married at the time, and we were platonic friends, and then we lost touch for a few years.”
It wasn’t until after Brown’s mother passed away in 2021 that Davis reconnected with her. “That’s when he found me,” she said, clarifying that he was divorced before they fell head over heels for each other.
“He’s just wonderful,” she added. Davis chimed in from the audience, “She’s just the most beautiful person in the world.”
