Harris joined NBC4 in 2017 after spending over 20 years at CNN. He was reporting on a water main break near Washington, D.C., as well as the arrest of four individuals connected to the vandalism of a building associated with the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). During the live broadcast, this concerning report was captured and shared on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Some viewers expressed concern that there may have been a medical emergency, while others believed that Harris may have relapsed. In 2022, he served jail time for driving under the influence. According to the New York Post, the broadcast was cut off after 35 minutes, and meteorologist Ryan Miller addressed the situation during the segment.
