Authorities have reported that a man from Houston is facing charges for the alleged murder of a woman and her child after he reportedly held them hostage in their home.
According to a statement from the Houston Police Department, officers discovered Kendrick Rayvon Fisher, 29, “asleep on the couch” in the apartment where they found a 28-year-old woman and her 2-year-old child, both victims of fatal stab wounds. This incident occurred at approximately 3:10 a.m. on Friday, November 29, at 12360 Richmond Avenue.

Family members confirmed to ABC 13 News that the deceased individuals were Fisher’s sister, Genene, and her 2-year-old daughter, Karlie. Law enforcement responded to the scene following reports from a caller who alleged that the woman and child were “being held hostage inside an apartment,” as noted in a statement by HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Arrington, along with Officers K. Clark and M. Nicotra.
“The citizen was concerned for their safety and told officers a male (suspect Fisher) was inside the apartment,” they added. After locating Fisher, officers searched the apartment where they found the deceased victims with “multiple stab wounds.”
The report indicated that both victims were declared dead at the location.
Police said that Fisher was found during his arrest with “injuries consistent with a physical altercation” and “blood on his clothing.”

The individual has been charged with capital murder in connection with the deaths of the two victims and is now being held at Harris County Jail.
Records from the jail, as reported by ABC 13 News, reveal that Fisher had recently been released in December 2023 after completing a seven-year prison term for armed robbery. His original sentence was lengthened due to a contraband violation during his time in custody.
A neighbor of the family, Emmanuel Thomas, told ABC 13 News, “I don’t understand hurting your own sister, hurting a woman, hurting another person, period. But what possessed you to hurt this baby?”
“We could see no red flags. This was just completely out of the blue,” he added.
According to the police statement, Fisher has been denied the option for bond.
