Silo recently launched its second season, successfully engaging its audience. The latest episodes introduced a new character, Solo, played by Steve Zahn. Fans are eager to learn more about this character, especially regarding his alignment with the original book series. So, who is Steve Zahn’s Solo in Silo Season 2?

Here is everything you need to know about the new character in this science-fiction series.

Who is Steve Zahn’s character, Solo in Silo Season 2?

Steve Zahn’s Solo is a survivor in Silo 18.

At the end of Season 2, Episode 3, Juliette encounters Solo, an eccentric survivor. Solo initially appears as a mysterious figure introduced in the season premiere, where he nearly kills Juliette for attempting to open a vault. When Juliette meets him properly, Solo reveals that he is the lone survivor of a revolution that took place within Silo 18. Solo is portrayed as a middle-aged, bearded man, deeply impacted by years of isolation.

Solo’s story resonates with Juliette, as his survival after a rebellion mirrors the consequences Juliette faces after her own revolutionary actions in her home Silo. He also reveals that a man named Russell instructed him to never let anyone enter the vault. Despite his distrust, Solo is eager to reconnect with people after years of solitude.

While Juliette tries to convince Solo to leave the vault, he initially refuses. When she decides to leave, Solo pleads with her to stay and offers to help her return home safely.

Solo’s backstory differs between the Silo trilogy books and the TV series.

While the series follows the first book, Wool, closely, it introduces notable changes. In the books, Solo is a child raised outside the Silos before eventually making his way underground. In the show, however, Solo has spent his entire life underground, much like Juliette.

Despite this divergence, the series appears to be setting up similar story beats to those in the books. Solo and Juliette work together to repair the survival suit that brought her to Silo 18, allowing her to return home. In the books, their mission separates them, and Solo is captured by other survivors, revealing that he is not as alone as he claimed. Juliette ultimately returns to her Silo, abandoning Solo as a rebellion unfolds in her home Silo.

Fans can expect more of Steve Zahn’s Solo as Silo Season 2 progresses. New episodes are streaming on Apple TV+.
