A YouTuber recently went viral after finding a Grammy belonging to Roddy Ricch. The rapper is alleging that the vlogger tried to extort him for $50K to get it back.
Recently, we’ve seen resellers branch out from selling sneakers only to flipping anything for profit. While expanding operations, many have started vlogging their flipping escapades for viral content. On November 29, vlogger Prieto Hunter uploaded a video after purchasing an abandoned storage unit, and inside the unit was a Grammy for “Racks In The Middle,” belonging to rapper Roddy Ricch.
Roddy won the Grammy at the 2019 Grammys for the track featuring Nipsey Hussle and DJ Mustard.
Hunter’s video instantly went viral, and in an update, the vlogger said he wanted to “work something out” with Roddy to return it. Soon after, the blogger said he started receiving threats about the award.
As speculation grew about what was happening, Roddy Ricch hopped online to allege that the vlogger attempted to extort him for the award.
“First he asked me for an AP [watch],” said Roddy. “Then he asked for $50,000. So it was never about ‘Oh we’re going to do it on just the strength of trying to get it back to you’ and all that type of s**t. It was more so about a n***a trying to get some clout off it or a n***a trying to basically extort me for $50,000.”
To make matters worse, Roddy says he initially offered a $10K reward, which Hunter refused and requested $50K instead. Perhaps Hunter forgot what the award meant to the City of Los Angeles following Nip’s passing because he eventually gave up his clout chase.
After some back and forth behind the scenes, Hunter eventually uploaded a video inside a police station returning the Grammy. In the video, as a member of Roddy’s team picks up the Grammy, Hunter explains that Roddy refused to even appear on camera.
