The title for the second film in the 28 Years Later trilogy has been titled The Bone Temple, and it is to be released in theaters on January 16th, 2026.
The movie will be released only six months after 28 Years Later, which is set to be unleased on June 20. The Bone Temple will be directed by Nia DaCosta (The Marvels) from a screenplay written by Alex Garland. Danny Boyle is producing.
There aren’t any plot details revealed for The Bone Temple, but it will continue the story of 28 Years Later. In the film, “It’s been almost three decades since the rage virus escaped a biological weapons laboratory, and now, still in a ruthlessly enforced quarantine, some have found ways to exist amidst the infected.
“One such group of survivors lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily-defended causeway. When one of the group leaves the island on a mission into the dark heart of the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders and horrors that have mutated not only the infected but other survivors as well.”
Cillian Murphy returns as Jim, with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, Jack O’Connell, Erin Kellyman, and Ralph Fiennes.
