Some exciting new details have surfaced for Christopher Nolan’s next big film project, which is titled The Odyssey.

According to a post shared on X from Universal Pictures, The film is described as “a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology.

:The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX film screens for the first time and opens in theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026.”

Nolan has assembled an impressive list of actors for the film which includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson and Charlize Theron.

Nolan is set to write and will produce with Emma Thomas under their Syncopy banner, and the production start date is set sometime in the first half of 2025.

Homer’s Odyssey is an epic Greek poem that chronicles the challenging journey of Odysseus, King of Ithaca, as he strives to return home following the Trojan War.

Over the course of ten years, Odysseus faces a series of perilous trials, including encounters with the Cyclops Polyphemus, the enchantress Circe, the alluring sirens, and the wrath of the sea god Poseidon.

Guided by his wit and resilience, he overcomes these obstacles while longing for his wife, Penelope, and son, Telemachus, who await him in Ithaca, fending off opportunistic suitors vying for his throne.

I can’t wait to see what Nolan’s vision of this epic story looks like!

Holland recently said that he signed on to the project without knowing many details. “To be perfectly honest, I don’t really know what it’s about.

“I’m super excited, but it’s been pretty quiet about the project. I met with [Nolan] and it was awesome. He kind of loosely pitched what it is, and I’m sure when he’s ready he’ll announce what it’s about”

Well, now we know what the film will be, and I can’t wait to watch it!
