Jodie Turner-Smith is calling out her estranged husband, Joshua Jackson.
The Queen and Slim actress filed for divorce in October 2023. She said Jackson has not been paying the child and spousal support he owes her since her filing. According to court documents obtained by USA Today, Turner-Smith filed the new court documents on Dec. 23 at the Los Angeles County Superior Court. She requests that Jackson pay $8,543 per month in child support and $28,641 monthly in spousal support.
The couple married in August 2019 and share their 4-year-old daughter, Juno Rose Diana. After four years together, they initially separated in September 2023.
And that’s not all Turner-Smith is asking for. Additionally, the 38-year-old wants the Fringe actor to pay her attorney fees and the forensic accountant costs, which amount to $250,000.
In her initial filing, Turner-Smith asked the court to eliminate the option for either party to request child support. But that changed after Jackson’s lack of payments resulted in piling attorney and forensic accountant fees.
She said, “All I have asked for since the inception of this matter is to be allowed to maintain the strong relationship between Juno and me while managing a full-time work schedule to support our daughter and myself. Josh has run up my attorney’s fees and forensic accounting costs, making this dissolution far more difficult than necessary.”
Turner-Smith also noted that she’s not as established as Jackson because she’s only been in the industry for a little over a decade. However, Jackson has had at least 30 years of experience and has already made a name for himself. She alleges the drawn-out divorce and fees have made it difficult for her to support herself and her daughter.
“Josh promised to always support me and ensured me that I would not have to worry about financial security for our daughter if we ever separated because he said he understood how difficult life can be as a Black woman and a single mother,” she said. “Now, he is reneging on that promise and using litigation tactics and delay to pressure me into agreeing to a settlement that is neither equitable nor has any legal foundation.”
Jackson has yet to respond.
