After six months of filming in Prague, Amazon MGM Studios’ upcoming Blade Runner 2099 series has officially wrapped its production. At the moment, the action sci-fi show starring Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh currently has no premiere date yet for its Prime Video debut.

“In Los Angeles 2099, Cora lived her entire life on the run, a chameleon forced to adopt numerous identities,” reads the official logline. “To secure a stable future for her brother, she assumes one final identity and is forced to partner with Olwen, a Blade Runner who’s confronting the end of her life. The two are pulled into a widening conspiracy that poses an existential threat to a city that’s fighting to be reborn.”

Who is involved in the Blade Runner 2099 series?

Blade Runner 2099 was first announced back in September 2022, with Jodie Comer initially in negotiations to lead the series. The series is directed and executive produced by Shōgun’s The cast includes Yeoh as Olwen, Hunter Schafer as Cora, Lewis Gribben, Tom Burke, Maurizio Lombardi, Daniel Rigby, Dmitri Abold, Katelyn Rose Downey, Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim, and Matthew Needham.

The series is written and executive produced by showrunner Silka Luisa, with Jonathan van Tulleken serving as a director. Executive producers are Van Tulleken, Michael Green, Andrew Kosove, Broderick Johnson, Ben Roberts, David W. Zucker, Clayton Krueger, Cynthia Yorkin, Frank Giustra, Isa Dick Hackett, Tom Spezialy, and Richard Sharkey.

Yeoh was most recently seen in the musical fantasy Wicked starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. She is expected to reprise her role as Madame Morrible in its sequel Wicked: For Good, which will debut in 2025. Besides Blade Runner 2099, Yeoh is also leading the cast of the upcoming Star Trek: Section 31, where she’ll also reprise her Star Trek: Discovery character Philippa Georgiou.
