The search continues for Zelig Williams three months to the day after the Broadway dancer went missing in a heavily wooded area in his home state of South Carolina.
The 28-year-old dancer, whose Broadway credits include MJ The Musical and Hamilton, had recently moved back to Columbia, South Carolina, where he was living in the home of his mother Kathy Williams and working as a dance teacher. He was last seen by his mother leaving the house on October 3. A day later his car was found abandoned but undamaged in a parking lot near Congaree National Park about 20 miles southeast of Columbia.
Despite extensive searches of the wooded area, which includes a river and streams, by family members, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, local volunteers and the national volunteer organization We Are The Essentials, the case remains unsolved.
A new update posted on Facebook by cousin and family spokesperson Mieoki Corbett-Jacobs begins, “2025 is here and tomorrow will mark the 3rd month since Zelig Williams left his home heading out with a portfolio in his hand… possibly to drop it off or meet with someone briefly.”
After thanking the family’s supporters, Corbett-Jacobs continues, “The search will continue, but not in the areas that we’ve searched before (stay tuned for additional dates and locations in the next week or two). We do not believe that Zelig is in the water and we ABSOLUTELY believe that there is foul play related to his disappearance. We will continue to work with RCSD, We Are The Essentials and any other organizations willing to help us find Zelig.
“We know someone knows something and may be too afraid to come forward, we pray that the Creator will touch their heart and mind and move them to help us.”
Although Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said early in the investigation that foul play had not been ruled out, no determination along those lines has since been publicly disclosed. Deadline has reached out to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department for any updates.
The family has also noted that Williams might have stopped taking his medications, which were prescribed for his mental health, around the time he went missing.
Williams’ disappearance made national headlines in October after Hugh Jackman posted an Instagram message appealing for the public’s help in finding him. Williams had been a dancer on the 2019 tour of Jackman’s The Man. The Music. The Show. “Zelig we love you and are praying for your safe return,” Jackman wrote.
