The Producers Guild has postponed (once again) announcing its 2025 PGA Awards nominees in movie and TV categories as wildfires continue to burn in Los Angeles.
After initially delaying its nominations announcement until Sunday, the PGA will now announce its nominees sometime next week, with the group saying the delay was being made “out of care and concern for those being affected by the fires.”
Earlier, the PGA extended its voting window for film and TV nominees until Saturday.
The Producers Guild has already announced nominations in its documentary, sports, children’s and short-form content categories.
This past Thursday, the American Society of Cinematographers moved its awards nomination announcement, originally set for Thursday, to Monday, Jan. 13.
It was also announced Thursday that the LGBTQ entertainment critics’ Dorian film awards voting window for nominations has been extended to Monday, Jan. 13 with nominations set to be announced on Friday, Jan. 17.
Friday, the Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild announced it was extending its 2025 awards voting period until Jan. 17, with voting set to close on Feb. 9 ahead of winners being announced at the 2025 MUAHS Awards gala on Feb. 15.
“Due to the devastating fires in the Los Angeles area, many members of the MUAHS Guild have been forced to evacuate their homes and studios, causing disruptions in their daily lives and work. In order to support these members and give them the opportunity to fully participate in the awards, the voting date has been extended to Jan. 17,” MUAHS president Julie Socash said in a statement. “We are committed to supporting our members and all MUAHS Awards nominees and ensuring that all deserving artists have the chance to be recognized for their hard work and talent. The guild looks forward to celebrating the best in makeup and hair styling and honoring the resilience of its members during this challenging time.”
Wednesday, as the fires continued to spread and burn large areas of Los Angeles, the Oscars, voting for which began Wednesday morning, extended its voting window until Tuesday, Jan. 14, with the 2025 Oscars nominations announcement postponed until Sunday, Jan. 19.
And the Writers Guild of America delayed the announcement of its nominations until Monday, Jan. 13.
Similarly, various events, including awards shows, movie premieres and screenings for Oscar hopeful films, have been postponed. Most notably, the 2025 Critics Choice Awards has been delayed until Sunday, Jan. 26 from its initial date of Sunday, Jan. 12.
The Los Angeles fires, which began Tuesday in the Pacific Palisades, have left at least 16 people dead and destroyed communities ranging from the Pacific Coast to Pasadena. More than 12,000 structures have been burned.
Strong winds have fueled the spread of the fires, but calmer winds in recent days have allowed firefighters to make progress in battling the blazes.
As of Sunday morning, the fires had consumed roughly 62 square miles, an area larger than San Francisco.
Numerous stars have lost their homes in the fires including Billy Crystal, Eugene Levy, Mandy Moore, Anna Faris, Diane Warren and Paris Hilton. James Woods initially indicated he lost his home in the fires but later discovered it was “still standing,” saying “a miracle has happened.”
